Overtown Children & Youth Coalition Committees
We currently have four excellent committees for you to consider. You can join as many committees as you like. Read over the description below, and if you are already a member but have not joined, please consider joining a committee. Non-members, or soon-to-be members, can either join a committee during the membership application process or complete the form below to get involved.


Productive & Working Committee
Meeting Date: 2nd Tuesday of the Month
Committee Purpose: The purpose of the Productive & Working Committee is to discuss working and productive employment strategies for youth and young adults.
Goals:
- Increase summer employment opportunities for youth and young adults living in Overtown
- Develop, plan, and implement a Work Readiness Fair for ages 14-24 yearly
- Build a connective system that supports both education and employment for Overtown
Education & Community Engagement Committee
Meeting Date: 3rd Wednesday of the Month
Committee Purpose: The coalition’s goal is to serve as the community’s key strategic partner in the following impact area(s): Youth Development, Youth Economic Development & Career Development Pathways, Quality K-12 Education, Higher Education Access, and Retention & Completion, Physical, Mental Health & Well-Being, Resident and Youth Engagement, Organization Capacity Building
Goals:
- Develop a Community Resource Guide – providing both electronic and hard copy of goods and services in community
- Mentorship Program – Identify consistent male mentors for Overtown programs
- Increase Parent participation at local PTA meetings
- Build supportive systems for the community

Healthy & Safe Committee
Meeting Date: Last Wednesday of the Month
Committee Purpose: The goal of the committee is to increase and improve mental resilience, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices by designating and creating safe community spaces and addressing food insecurity & nutrition issues within the community.
Goals:
- Develop and execute community health and resource Fair
- Health education and awareness workshops
- Professional Development for organizations serving children and youth in Overtown
Accountability Committee
Meeting Date: 4th Monday of the Month
Committee Purpose: The purpose of the Accountability Committee is to discuss and develop collective Data Sharing strategies, protocols for specific programs and potential funding opportunities.
Goals:
- Review Data Sharing Measures and Key Indicators
- Review the OCYC data Sharing Portal Webauthor/Website
- Establishing Criteria for OCYC Member Funding
