Making a Difference: Improving Mental Health Outcomes for Children and Youth in Overtown
In Florida, there are more than 400,000 children with mental health issues, and fewer than half are receiving mental health services. Even when a mental health professional is treating a child, many of us wonder if our work really makes a difference. The children in our community have so many needs, beyond behavioral and mental health treatment. Sometimes it seems like so much has to change that is beyond the individual professional’s control.
We will hear from community partners and experts who will share their experience to change mental health outcomes in the Overtown community. Attendees will participate in interactive discussions to begin developing their own plans for broad practice change that will help their everyday practice. Experts will provide feedback to participants to ensure that they gain the knowledge and skills to have a greater impact on the mental health of children and youth in Overtown. A key focus of this training series will be the opportunity to network with professionals and community programs serving children and youth in Overtown.
