Lift Every Voice. No More Secrets, Silence, and Shame.

Date: Apr. 28, 2022

OCYC had the honor and privilege of hosting a very important conversation regarding sexual assault, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. We heard from both professional and personal perspectives during this open-to-the-public online session. During this webinar, survivors shared what it was like to live in conditions that brought trauma to their everyday world, and how living out their purpose while helping others has given them peace and freedom from the shame and trauma that they once lived in. Our speakers for the evening were: Shanika Ampah (Glo, Inc.), Davon Johnson (Transparent), Apostle Nelly Joseph (Kingdom Global Advancement) & Kali Fabal (Kristi House)

Her parents instilled strict morals, ethics and values to assure she would be on the right path to success.  Holding to those values instilled in her, she successfully graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Disaster Management from Florida International University. She is currently the Commander of Overtown and her plan is to reduce the crime rates and enhance the mutual trust between law enforcement and the community.

She recently sat down with us in a Zoom meeting (along with a few other force members) and spoke on the recent concerns of our community and what "policing Overtown" is all about.
