COPE24 Videos and Free Teacher Resources

We're proud to be a part of this worthy endeavor and are passing along this important information with our friends and family of OCYC.  Take a look at what our friend, Teresa Olsen, M.Ed. - Director, Prevent Child Abuse PA shared with us recently.

"Many of you have either heard me talk about the COPE24 Program or perhaps attended the presentation by the founder of COPE24, Rene Howitt, at the national conference in Milwaukee. COPE24 is a parenting skills curriculum designed for Family and Consumer Science teachers to share with  high school students. The idea is to educate the next generation of parents BEFORE they become parents;   the curriculum is used in over 20 states, including Pennsylvania. In addition to the curriculum, Rene  has written and produced 3 documentaries on elements far too common in families where there is child abuse and neglect – abusive head trauma, an unplanned pregnancy and substance abuse. She is currently in the editing phase of a fourth documentary on adverse childhood experiences.

Rene is offering a link to view these videos at no charge at www.cope24.com.  These videos have been shown to students in conjunction with the parenting skills curriculum and seem to have quite an impact. If you have the time, I highly recommend not only viewing them, but incorporating them into your  prevention efforts. Stay well." - Teresa, PCA PA

Due to the incredible demands put on our nation’s teachers during this crisis, COPE24 has decided to make our full-length videos available free on-demand through May 2020.

These include:

  • Life-Line – Identifying the consequences of an unplanned pregnancy.
  • The Life Sentence – Identifying the  consequences of shaken baby syndrome
  • Parenting Under The Influence – Identifying the risks of substance abuse during pregnancy

COPE24 offers free teacher resources that accompany each of these videos.

To access the videos please join the list. You will be emailed a link and a password for student use. We will utilize this contact information via MailChimp, as future decisions are made regarding the school shutdown and our documentary videos.

Thank you teachers, for all you do.
