Empowering Youth: A Day of Inspiration and Insight at The Bath Club

Today, I'm excited to shed light on the incredible work that the Overtown Children and Youth Coalition (OCYC) is spearheading to empower the youth in our community. As the Executive Director of OCYC, it's a privilege to share our mission and the impactful initiatives that are shaping a brighter future for Overtown's children.

At OCYC, our core belief is in the potential of every child. We're dedicated to providing the necessary support and opportunities that empower these young minds to realize their dreams. Through partnerships with local organizations and businesses, we're creating avenues for the youth to experience a diverse range of life's facets, inspiring them to become the architects of their own success.
A Glimpse into Enriching Experiences
On August 9, 2023, a remarkable event took place that beautifully illustrates our mission in action. HANDLE FOR THE BATH CLUB extended a heartfelt invitation to youth from Girl Power and Touching Miami with Love. These inspiring organizations work diligently to uplift the community's young girls. The day was filled with eye-opening experiences as Riccardo Usai, the Director of Operations, led them on an immersive tour of the members-only luxury club. This exclusive tour not only unveiled the club's history but also the remarkable journey of Don Peebles, its current owner—an esteemed African-American real estate developer.
Igniting Inspiration: Letters of Gratitude
The impact of the day was profound. The girls had the opportunity to enjoy beach time and indulge in a delightful lunch, leaving them awestruck and deeply appreciative. Their gratitude was beautifully expressed in thank-you letters, capturing the essence of this unique experience that provided them with a glimpse of possibilities beyond their horizons.

Expressions of Appreciation
Thank you, Mr. Peeples and Mr. Usai for the great tour and all the good information that I learned today. I would never know about this beautiful building land of pure art that was brought by an Africa American and even some of the furniture was from his home and my favorite room was the restaurant. The blue and gold of the restaurant just went together very well. Also the celling design was just beautiful. I would love to have that in my house and just stare at it. But again I just want to say thank you for a great experience today.
