Empowering the Future
Give Miami Day 2023
November 16, 2023
A Day of Impact and Philanthropy
Give Miami Day is one of the largest annual giving events in the nation. On this day, anyone can make a philanthropic impact by supporting our community’s local organizations. It's time to show up for Miami!
OCYC's Commitment to Give Miami Day
For Overtown Children and Youth Coalition (OCYC), Give Miami Day represents an opportunity to increase donations immensely through the popularity of the event. It attracts individuals beyond OCYC’s sphere of anchoring organizations, stakeholders, and community residents. We harness the power of Give Miami Day to its fullest potential.
Focusing on the OCYC Laptop Scholarship Program
For 2023, we focus on donations for the OCYC Laptop Scholarship Program. Our goal is to raise $50,000. We will use those dollars to purchase laptops for students in the Overtown community and award them based on their applications.
Bridge the Digital Divide: Our $50,000 Goal
We know the importance of technology in today’s world and in the future. As an underserved community, our children and youth need as much help in reaching their full potential as possible. Without access to laptops, they lag further behind their counterparts in well-funded communities. OCYC’s goal is to empower our children and youth, and the OCYC Laptop Scholarship Program allows for them to succeed.
Thank you, OCYC, for my laptop! Now, I can search online for my homework.

Empowering Overtown's Youth Through Technology
Since we established the OCYC Laptop Scholarship Program in 2021, we held three award ceremonies to provide 125 laptops. For 2023, our goal is to surpass 125 in one round. With your support, we expect to help at least 150 students. Kindly click here to make your donation today. Overtown Children and Youth appreciates your generous support!
Transforming Lives, One Laptop at a Time
At home, I used to share an old computer with my mother, brother, and sister. It’s hard to get all of my homework done with the computer freezing. Now, I’m so happy to have my new laptop. I even let my little sister use it too.
